Anzac Day 2022 - acrylic on canvas sheet

My Anzac day offering for 2022.

I started this On Anzac day but didn't finish it until July because it just wasn't working, it kept feeling incomplete, and it wasn't until I let go of "finishing" it that it came to me.

I kept hearing "every man" in my head and just started to make marks and shapes came, so I added more shapes, but slipped a few times and saw that they were hats and while here were just blobs I was putting down features were there from what was in the background.

It wasn't working and I couldn't finish it because I only had the poppies, but it's not about the poppies, it's about "every man".
