About me

My vision is to create art that tells a story, to the person seeing it or through the expression of it. From dreams & meditations, messages & flow. And some are just plain for fun. Everything means something...to someone.

I'm a rather laid back Aussie, so I'll keep this non- pretentious and laid back.
There are different pieces I create, some to just have fun, some to practice, some just because I feel drawn to go into the studio and pick up a tool.

All these things are support for what I have been almost pushed to do, and that is to create the visions I see. Sometimes they are just as I am sleeping, sometimes they are just as I wake, sometimes they come to me from no-where, and I feel that I need to share them and the story/feelings that come behind.

This is where I use the term "intuitive"; To call it more seemingly obtuse things makes people feel uncomfortable, so I try and keep it laid back.
I have many favorite artists, from Gustave Moreau , Dali, Blake to ... well there are so many in a plethora of different styles.

To find the best word in short to describe my piece, is Expressionism.
From absolutely abstract to form to landscape, each piece is an expression; not for technical detail I use photography for that, but to imbue it with spirit.

The special ones are just that. Special paintings. Magical things have come through on their own that I could never recreate and because they were born from the universe and not from me, makes them even more special.
Not just in their birth but the energy they were created with adds more to the piece and therefore is not just an artwork but a manifestation.

Channeled artworks are created from moments I have sat down and deliberatly asked and listened for "messages", sometimes they come, sometimes they don't, but when they do I try to quickly get down the vision and the wording "as best I can rememeber". 

Dreams artworks are just that, things I have seen in my dream that felt this pressure to paint, they usually have some kind of message with them from the dream.

Other catergorised artworks are mixtures of expeiments, practice and "trying" from my head, sometimes they evolve, sometimes they don't.
To validate that the Special ones are from the universe and not from me, I included the OK and bad, to show, the specialness of The Special Ones and why I am only comfortable letting them go at the prices I have given them.
There are plenty that aren't so special for lesser prices available.

I've never thought of myselt as an artist, allthough when I was young I created one piece for my Mother and she took it to work and many people started asking mom for something similar, however never pursued it.
Every time I get distracted from creating art nowdays things happen that make me go back to it, like this push.

And so I  paint...



*Elvina Dunn is my art Pseudonym. However I see it as the part of me that channels the intuitive ideas, the things I am given to put on paper. A rose is a rose by any other name, so...
